In the second quarter of 2022, the top five news and magazine applications in Colombia showcased varying performance trends in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users. According to data from Sensor Tower, here’s a detailed look at how these apps fared on a unified platform.

Elecciones Presidenciales 2022 saw significant fluctuations in weekly downloads. Beginning strong with over 41K downloads in the week of May 23, it experienced a dip to approximately 31K the following week. The app peaked again with nearly 53.5K downloads in mid-June before declining to 189 downloads by the end of June.

Elecciones Colombia 2022 had a notable spike in downloads, especially at the end of May with 32.4K downloads. However, this number fell to about 13K in the subsequent week. The app saw another peak in mid-June with 2.9K downloads before tapering off to 160 downloads by the end of June.

NewsBreak: Local News & Alerts started Q2 strongly with 33.3K downloads in the last week of March. This number drastically reduced to single digits by the end of April. The app maintained a fairly stable active user base, starting from nearly 120K in late March and ending with approximately 65K by the end of June.

Twitter Lite demonstrated consistent performance in downloads, peaking at 111.9K downloads in the week of June 20. The app's weekly revenue varied slightly, reaching a high of $39 in late March and fluctuating between $5 and $21 through the quarter. Active users remained robust, hovering around 4.2M to 4.3M throughout the period.

Noticias Caracol experienced a gradual increase in active users, starting from 24.8K in late March to about 28.7K by the end of May. Downloads peaked at approximately 2.1K in mid-June but saw a decline to 684 by the last week of June.
